Bezdružice is situated at an altitude of 576 m in the southern part of the Tepl highland of West Bohemia.
Mentioned first in 1227, it was elevated to the status of a town in 1459.
The
castle [background left] was built in Late Baroque style in 17721776
near the remains of an earlier, medieval, stronghold of prior to 1330. At the beginning of the 19th century the castle became the seat of a district court.
