Beinstein

 

1715 Beinstein Beinstein is situated at an elevation of 235 m in the Rems valley. The first mention of Beinstein, dating from 1086, is also the first mention of viniculture in the area. It is believed thet the origin of the name is a Roman tomb (German: Bein = bone). Today Beinstein is part of the municipality of Waiblingen.

The church of St. Stephen [left] with its hexagonal choir dates from the late Gothic period. It contains frescos from the 15th century.

The bottom right picture shows a building labeled Beinsteiner Mineralquell. The mineral waters are today marketed under the brand name "Remstal-Sprudel".
