Lipová-lázně

de: Lindewiese, Bad Lindewiese

2860 Lipová-lázně Lipová-lázně (German: Bad Lindewiese) is situated in the Jeseník district of northern Moravia in the valley of the Stařič (German: Staritz) between the Rychlebské hory (Reichensteiner Gebirge) and Jeseníky (Altvatergebirge) mountains. Lipová-lázně consists of the town districts Bobrovník (Bieberteich), Dolní Lipová (Niederlindewiese), Lipová-Lázně (Bad Lindewiese) und Horní Lipová (Oberlindewiese).

The place became famous as a spa town in the 19th century as the place where Johann Schroth in 1829 developed his cold water cure therapies. Lindewiese (Lipová-lázně) and the nearby Gräfenberg (Gräfenberk, Lázně Jeseník) soon ranked among the most popular spa towns in the Austrian monarchy. After 1945 the spa activities declined but since the modernizations initiated in 1989 the popularity of Lipová-lázně again increased.
