ru: Триберг (Шварцвальд)

2051 Triberg im Schwarzwald Triberg im Schwarzwald is situated at an elevation of 750 m in the central Schwarzwald (Black Forest) region of southwestern Baden-Württemberg.

The earliest mention of Triberc is found in a document of 1239. About a century later, in 1330, Triberg was first mentioned as a town. In 1355 the town was acquired by King Albrecht I, Duke of Austria and remained with Austria for almost 450 years. In 1797 Triberg at first passed to Duke Ercole III of Modena, who had been awarded the Duchy of Breisgau and Ortenau as compensation for the loss of his Duchy to France. Ercole III was succeeded from 1803 until 1805 by Archduke Ferdinand Karl of Habsburg-Este. In 1806 Triberg for a few months became part of the Kingdom of Württemberg before passing to the Grand Duchy of Baden in the fall of the same year.

The opening of the Black Forest Railroad (Schwarwaldbahn) in 1873 marked the beginning of the industrialisation of Triberg and also its development into a spa town. One of the visitors in 1922 was Ernest Hemingway who mentioned his sojourn here in two short passages of his book "The Snows of Kilimanjaro". In 1924 the district Triberg was dissolved and partitioned evenly among the districts Wolfach, Villingen and Donaueschingen. Triberg became part of the district Villingen, today Schwarzwald-Baar district. The neighbouring communities of Nußbach and Gremmelsbach were incorporated into Triberg in 1973 and 1974. In 1986 the recognition as a climatic spa was officially renewed.
