4298 Kottmar The municipality Kottmar was formed in 2013 by a merger of the former municipalities Obercunnersdorf, Niedercunnersdorf and Eibau. The name of the municipality was taken from the Kottmar hill (582 m) located in the centre of the municipality. The municipality has a population of about 7,200 (2021).

The northern parts of the municipality, Obercunnersdor and Niedercunnersdorf were already mentioned as Cunradisdorf in 1221, followed by Khotdmersdorpp (Kottmarsdorf) in 1306 and Ottenhayn (Ottenhain) in 1317. Eibau, the southern part of the municipality, was first mentioned in 1352. The distinction between Nieder-, Neu- and Ober-Cunnersdorf originated aroung 1450.

The Kottmarturm [left, no. 4298] on the Kottmar hill, a 15.5-metre-high lookout tower, was built in 1881. It is currently closed to the public.
