1082 Ustroń Ustroń is situated at an elevation of 387 m in the Cieszyn county on the river Wisła (Vistula, Weichsel), not far from the river's source.

The place was first mentioned in a document of 1305 and originally was owned by the Piast princes. During the 16th century it belonged to the local nobility before it came in possession of the Imperial and Royal Chamber in the 17th century, thus becoming part of the Austrian countries. The discovery of iron in the 18th century caused the transition of the former rural village to a more industrialized community. During the period of iron mining and working which continued until 1897, hot waters obtained from the iron mills were also used for therapeutic purposes beginning in 1804. Later discoveries of mineral springs with iron-containing waters further enhanced the popularity of Ustroń. In 1882, Ustroń was granted the status of a spa town by the Austrian monarchy. Therapeutic mud was added to the therapies in 1901. Ustroń obtained the status of a town in 1956. The status of a spa town was officially renewed in 1967 (confirmed in 1972).
