Bad Meinberg

ru: Бад-Майнберг sr: Бад Мајнберг

2922 Bad Meinberg Bad Meinberg is part of the municipality Horn-Bad Meinberg.

Meginbergen was first mentioned in a written document in 978. In 1676 it was first refered to as a spa place. The first analysis of the waters was carried out in 1762. In 1767 Meinberg was officially recognised by the counts of Lippe as a spa. Soon after this, the first hotels were built toaccomodate the visitors. In 1903 the name of the town was officially changed to Bad Meinberg. At that time the spa facilities were not administered as part of the community, but as a separate domain of the princes of Lippe. In 1919 the spa domain became part of Bad Meinberg and in 1933 obtained the status 'Lippisches Staatsbad' ('Lippe state spa'). When in 1947 the former principality of Lippe-Detmold was incorporated into the new German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the spa itself, previously part of the princely domains, was not converted into a property of the state but became part of the assets of the Landesverband Lippe which was founded in 1948 in order to manage to former princely assets. On 1 January 1970 Bad Meinberg was merged with the municipality Horn to become the new municipality Bad Meinberg-Horn. On 10 September of the same year the municipality was renamed Horn-Bad Meinberg.
