Schwarzenbach an der Pielach is situated at an elevation of 520 m near the origin of the river Pielach in southern Lower Austria.

The parish church Sankt Katharina [left] dates back to the 14th century. The Gothic chancel dates from that period, the nave was built in the late 18th century.
