2185 Dłużek/Lubsko Lubsko (German: Sommerfeld) is situated at an elevation of 77 m on the river Lubsza (Lubis) in the Żary county in the southwestern part of the Lubuskie (Lebus) voivodship of western Poland. The town has a population of about 15,400 (2005).

Lubsko is one of the oldest towns of the region. The earliest written mention is found in a document of 1258. In 1251 it had become part of the principality of Głogów (Glogau) and in 1283 the village was chartered as a town. In 1331 it passed to the Bohemian crown and in 1482 the town, in German called Sommerfeld, became part of the margraviate Brandenburg (1701 Kingdom of Prussia). In 1846 Sommerfeld/Lubsko was connected to the railroad from Berlin to Breslau (today Wrocław). After World War II the town became part of Poland, at first under the name Żemsz, then as Lubsko.

Schloss Dolzig [left], the manor house of Dłużek (Dolzig), was the birthplace of Auguste Viktoria, Princess of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg, consort of the last German emperor, Wilhelm II. Auguste Viktoria was born here on October 22, 1858.
