Dvorce

alt.: Dvorce u Bruntálu
de: Hof in Mähren
sr: Дворце (Брунтал)

3902 Dvorce Dvorce (German: Hof in Mähren) is situated at an elevation of 552 m in the Lobík valley in northern Moravia, about 20 km southeast of the district town Bruntál, 28 km southwest of Opava and about 55 km west of the regional capital, Ostrava. The municipality has a population of about 1,300 (2019). it consists of the cadastral comuunities Dvorce u Bruntálu and Rejchartice (Reigersdorf).

According to legends, Dvorce was founded at the beginning of the 10th century, However, the first written mention then comes from 1339 from a document of the lord of Šternberk. At that time there was already a rectory. The manors were founded on the site of an older settlement destroyed in 1241 invasion of the Mongols. Their restoration was also carried out as a counterpoint to the neighbouring Episcopal estate of Budišov nad Budišovkou in a territory rich in minerals, which at that time was a frequent cause of disputes between the Šternberk nobility and the Olomouc diocese. In 1363 Dvorce obtained the privileges of a town. This status was confirmed in 1403. The German name was mentioned as Hoff 1416. The period between 1546 and 1600 was a flourishing period for handicrafts and numerous craft guilds were founded. During the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648), the city was often decimated by passing and camping troops, mainly because of its location on the main postal road to Silesia. After the abolition in 1849 of manorialism and patrimonial administration, Dvorce became a municipality and the centre of a judicial district in the Šternberk district. In 1909 Dvorce was reallocated to the district Moravský Beroun. After World War II, the German-speaking population was expelled; as this caused a drastic reduction of the population, Dvorce lost its status as a town. In 1949 the municipality became part of the district Bruntál.

Glass no. 3902 [left] shows a view of the central market square. In the 1950s and 1960s, all the buildings on the market square were torn down and replaced by architecturally undemanding concrete structures.

The german name of Dvorce u Bruntálu was Hof in Mähren. Other glasses of this collection show views of Hof in Bavaria, Germany.
