Štós (between 1927 and 1973 in Slovak Štos, before that and since then Štós)
is situated at an elevation of 460 m Volovské vrchy mountains of eastern Slovakia, about 8 km west of the district
town Medzev and about 35 km west of the regional capital Košice.
As of 31 December 2024, the municipality has a population of 747.
The municipality was first mentioned in writing in 1341. In the past, it was a mining settlement where iron ore, silver, and gold
