4495 Tišnov Tišnov is situated at an elevation of 265 m in the Svratka valley about 22 km northwest of Brno, the capital of the Czech region of South Moravia. The municipality has a population of about 9,200 (2023).

The first written mention of Tišnov dates from 1233, in a charter of the Porta coeli convent in neighbouring Předklášteří. Tišnov was originally a market village located on an important trade route. It was owned by the Cistercian convert until its dissolution in 1782. Already in the 13th century, Tišnov developed into a small town. In 1416 it obtained the status of a market town. It was burned down during the Hussite Wars in 1428 and damaged by the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648). It was also damaged by fires several times, the largest fire occurred in 1668. In 1788, Tišnov was promoted to a town. The town was affected by the passage of Napoleonic troops in 1805 and 1809, and by the Austro-Prussian War in 1866. A railway line connecting Tišnov to Brno was constructed in 1885, and in 1905 the railroad from Havličkův Brod (then Deutschbrod/Německý Brod) to Žďár nad Sázavou was extended to Tišnov. Until 1918, Tischnowitz/Tišnov was a part of Austria-Hungary, since 1896 in the district with the same name. From 1918 to the 1930s, the town experienced economic and construction growth. In 1961 the district of Tišnov was merged into the district Brno-venkov (Brno rural district).

The sanatorium [left, no. 4495] was built in 1898–1899 as a bizarre palace-like building in an eclectic style based on several previous architectonic styles. The building was surrounded by a beautiful English park, complete with a small chapel. In 1929–1930, a new wing was added. After the World War ;II, the Sanatorium was transformed into a hospital, which it is to this day.
